Silence, a short suspense thriller, bravely tackles the dark and difficult subject of child sexual abuse. Originally conceived to increase awareness of the issue through educational use, the film grew into a world-class production through the dogged determination of the LVF team and an unprecedented array of Australia’s top film talent who provided most of their services free or at cost.
With Yee’s subtle script that turned a taboo topic into compelling viewing, LVF was able to rally support from the likes of Warner Roadshow Studios, who donated studio time - and some of the biggest names in the industry, including Cutting Edge, Atlab, Kodak, Dolby Laboratories, Audio Loc Sound Design, Speed Wedge, The Post Lounge, Panavision Australia, Panavision Lighting, Williams Talent and more.
“Thanks to these amazing contributors, we were able to complete a production worth close to $500,000 for an out-of-pocket cost of just $43,000”, Kocinski said.
We are currently developing a study guide and getting the film into educational curricula. Supporters include prominent child abuse organisations ASCA - Advocates for Survivors of Child Abuse (www.asca.org.au), Bravehearts (www.bravehearts.org.au) and International Child Abuse Network (www.yesican.org).
